Almost anyone who is 19 or over and wishes to study for a qualification at level 3 to level 6 will be able to get an Adult Learning Loan to cover tuition fees. 

What can Advanced 19+ Advanced Learning Loan do for me, and why should I get one?

Advanced Learning Loans have enabled learners to progress in their chosen career, or even move into a totally new career. The benefits of an Advanced Learning Loan can mean improved job prospects, career progression in your current job and higher wages. 

The Advanced Learner Loan is used to pay the training provider directly to deliver the qualification.

Each qualification has a value based on the size and type of qualification.

Important information to help you understand Learning Loans

• When applying for a 19+ Advanced Learning Loan, there is no credit check and household income isn’t taken into account.

• Loan repayments are linked to what you earn when you’ve finished your course, not how much you borrowed.

• You only need to start paying back your 19+ Advanced Learning Loan when you’ve finished your course and earning a certain amount each year known as a threshold, the threshold changes annually on 6th April.

• If you want to make voluntary repayments, you can do so at any time.

• Loan repayments will be taken directly from your wage through the tax system.

• You may be able to get financial support for living expenses, this depends on where you live and your household income.

• If you are unemployed or not earning you don’t have to pay it back until you are.

• You pay back at a rate of only 9% of the difference between the threshold and what you earn.
