The 5% 

Programme Description              

Delivery will consist of a 16 week health awareness and activity programme

Each session comprises of small groups of 8-10 attendees participating in 60 - 90 minutes of theory and discussion about healthy food choices and role play scenarios and 60 - 90 minutes of light to moderate physical activity.

Well being activity will initially revolve around some light motivational physical activity assessments such as an amount of step ups onto a box performed in 3 minutes and the number of sit ups performed in either 1 or 2 minutes with focus on participation and not competition. 

The programme will effectively manage clients, enabling them to improve their behaviour, physicality, and nutritional lifestyle and help people to take responsibility for losing and managing weight through the use of motivational interviewing, negotiating and empathetic skills.

During sessions a register will be taken to ensure retention of the maximum amount of clients is occurring to ensure they attend all sessions and lose 5% of their body weight by the end of the programme.

The aim will be to reduce the number of clients to drop out of the course by making sessions enjoyable and motivating. All instructors have the ability to engage with and teach clients on topics ranging from

  • Body-image,

  • Nutritional facts

  • Structured and light exercise differences

  • Benefits and Risks of exercise

Instructors will also use the different models which inform on health behaviours and behaviour change.
